Head off to Pulau Muara Besar
Most of us reached Serasa beach at around 2-2.30pm. There were loads to bring; nets and traps, food and more food, tents and sleeping bags. We would be soending a night over at the island. Insect repellent came in handy, mosquito coil that was burnt managed to keep us from bitten badly.
When we arrived at the pulau, the guys started putting up the tents. There
were three tents but none were fully occupied. haha. Some of us didn’t quite sleep.
As soon as the tents were set up, we prepared some traps and bananas for mammal trapping. We split into two groups; a group set up traps and the other set up camera traps.
While all that were done, we also took notice of the invertebrates, birds, and plants around us. These are a couple of them that I have seen and managed to take a few shots.

Sharp looking soft breathing roots and brown algae were seen everywhere.

Mudskippers can be seen. You know their presence without looking at them. You’d most likely to hear them skipping instead.
Starfishes! There were as common as the gastropods. These pictures are taken at night and starfishes were seen to be undergoing polygamy.

You’ll see seagrass. You’ll see eels. Eels make splashes as they burrow into the sand for food. And here we thought we saw a sea snake.

Haha. You don’t just see stingrays in the big ocean or sea. You’d find them too in the pulau.
When night falls. We camp by the candles. We ate hot dog buns. We sat under the star-filled sky.
The next day, we went and checked the traps. We caught five muneri s. Not bad indeed.
We rode back to the beach around 10.30am and managed to get everything packed and when it was time to head back home/campus, clock stroke mid-afternoon.
