March 2009

I hate it when work starts to pile up. I hate it even more when they have nothing to do with my subject of interest. Sighs deeply*

Nopes, the tulips I tried to grow did not succeed. The temperature in my room is not cold enough for the tulips to grow and the humidity is just too high. Fungus grow far too easily.

With that failed, I now try to plant another type of bulb – the Dutch Iris. I have to thank Mag for this for whom without, I wouldn’t have them seeds with me today. akekeke. Thanks Mag! I went to pick the bulbs up this morning at 7am and carried them in my bag – all excited to have them planted when I reached home.

Unlike the tulips, this bulb does not require cold temperature to grow, but rather full sunlight. In my case however, I have planted them into four pots – well drained pots and have placed a couple of bulbs in each of them. The pots are then put into shady area (like under bigger plants, etc.). I’ve also put them away from my dog’s reach. I bought one oriental flower and it died because my dog sat flat on it.

dutch-irisPurple Dutch Iris

Common Name: Dutch Iris
Scientific Name: Iris Hollandica
Grows well in: sunny area with partial or full shade, acidic soil.
Planted them on: March 18th, 2009.

Besides Dutch iris, I’m trying to also grow Brodiaea Triteleia (Queen Fabiola). I have not planted them yet. I thought I should check some details out before doing so. Well, one reason why I planted the Iris first was due to the fact that the bulbs were already showing signs of plumule growth even before I placed them into the soil! haha.

Thanks Mag! So so much for them!!

Doesn’t bother you at all, ey? This warming of the globe, little does it affect you, huh? Yeah, everyone is talking about it and you have been listening to them yikkity-yack. How do you feel, you think, living in a burning world? A fiery hot home. Or maybe, it won’t be hot at all. Only perhaps, wet.

Go on, try imagine having your meal in a place like this:

Ah, this is Venice in December 2008, ladies and gentlemen. And, I tell you what, this is not the only restaurant that is flooded. Many many more were. Oh oh… how about doing a little furniture shopping?

veniceunderwater-1There goes all your money~* Okay alright, maybe it isn’t the right time for furniture shopping… what about grocery shopping? Surely…?

veniceunderwater-4Be glad that your home doesn’t look like this right now.

I don’t know… should nature really show its strength, would only we realise that it is telling us something and the fact that we need to act fast! or should we just die with our creations? It’s the only way nature’s soul could find peace.

How would you like living half dry half wet every day for the rest of your life?

Dude, it’s simple. It’s a cliche now.

Yep, it’s a Friday and it means it’s a work day for me. I should be finishing my GE1105 essay draft today but progress is very slow. I doubt I can finish it today. *pout* Instead of switching my mood to be a lot more hardworking, I was lazying around organising my photos in my computer.

Which hair style do you prefer? haha. I sort of misses my long hair now. Maybe I shall grow it longer again and then cut it again!  Who’s with me?! akekeke.

lol HAHAHAHA! Okay. So I went to a salon in Hong Kong last year and got my hair done. Here I thought having my hair clipped is awful looking! This is like the ATTACK OF THE HAIRCLIPS! >.< lol.

I look like a crazy woman who doesn’t know how to clip her hair and has a plastic halo! -.- my goodness.

Yeah yeah, a picture speaks a thousand words…. I wonder what words you have in mind.. ;P

It’s getting late. I shall get ready.

Today is a busy busy day. CO 1603 is killing me. I don’t like it and I abhor the thought that it is taking away ALL MY fucking time. I have little time for my major and minor subjects since most of the time, I have to finish the multiple assignments of these other courses that I don’t see any use of (yet?). Gah.
But anyway, while I was typing away, doing some worksheets in MS Excel in a friend’s house, some creature came into the backyard and stole some mangoes! haha. Not it isn’t the Silvered Leaf Monkey you see in this picture who did it but the long tailed Macaque! It’s amazing! Cursing under my breath I was doing them assignments and these two species came to brighten up my day!
Little after 3pm, you’d see them on the trees picking out fruits. There were 7 long tailed Macaques! and up on the trees at the front of the house, you’d see a couple of Silvered Leaf Monkeys plucking leaves and munching away.
Can you spot him?

Can you spot the Silvered Leaf Monkey? hehe

Have you seen any of them?

As if my workload is not heavy enough, I have taken up two part time jobs both of which involve me tutoring and teaching in some ways. Hopefully by doing them, I could get a little richer than $50 per month? Sigh* IthinkIamgoingcrazy. haha

Anyway, if any of UBD-ians are reading this at the moment, I have this idea of making a charity ball. Though I am quite new to the university and does not know much of the whatshouldbes and all that stuff, I think I can make this a success if you help me! To those who knows the idea, please tell me whether you are interested! I don’t think I would propose this idea officially if there isn’t enough people to help me.

And yes, the theme would be Masquerade. And yes, I do have the plans in my head. And yes, I do know where to hold such a ball. And yes, I have the masks ready. And yes, I know how much one should pay for food and venue. And yes, I have most of the important things in my head, I just need enough people who really are interested in this to make it a success. And gah, yes, I bloody know you have loads of work to do. HAHA. =) We are in the same boat. Most of you know where to holler me. =D

Because of nature.

Okay, So I normally surf around blogs- hopping from one to the other trying get myself updated with the happenings of my friends’ life, reading a little on some nature blogs like Montana’s, and of course some local blogs like ranoadidas.

This is what I saw in his(ranoadidas’) blog under BGIC VII:

bgic-viiHAHAHAAHA. I look so weird in this one. I don’t like how my hair looked on that day. Gah. So ugly. TSK! haha

(In Picture (L to R): Princess Sarah, Me, Mr.Nathan Chasing Horse)

bgic-vii-1“Okay Lin Ji, what on earth are you doing?”

“I was trying to be DISCREET in showing the way (you see my right arm- out there trying to show the way.. -.-” ) but I guess it wasn’t so discreet afterall. -.- Anyway, in the picture is Mr.Soon Lin! Rep of Hua Ho

I now know…
I shouldn’t have clipped my hair. TSK!

Okay putting that aside, I’d like to join the HSBC contest – the NAME THE CHOCOLATE contest. haha. Okay, not exactly naming the chocolate. There is this banner with three pictures of chocolates – every chocolate looks the same. One chocolate has ‘energy’ written across it and the next has ‘indulgence’. The third one is empty. The contest is to seek out the one that could give the best ‘word’ to that last chocolate. What do you think is the best word? ;P hmms…

The last chocolate: “Now, describe me ONE word”.

……

I did. It’s no good but I did skip that one lecture on Saturday morning. I spent a couple of hours, perhaps three to four hours at the International Convention Centre. I had an exciting and tiring morning. Role on stage was not as difficult as I thought it would be. However, I swear I did have a little trouble remembering what I was told to do the day before. In front of the Princess, on stage – infront of the mass audience, perfection is important. Keep smiling is a must.

Right after the Opening ceremony, after the Royal Entourage left the building, I too left for UBD. Thank goodness, I did manage to make it for Math in the afternoon.

A little before 6.30pm, I left for Li Gong. Guests started arriving at 6.45pm, dinner started at a little past 7pm. We had, chinese food, of course. It made me wonder how the foreigners like the food being served. While we enjoy ourselves with the fabulously made dishes, we were entertained by four students who performed some cultural dances. In between those smooth and colourful performances, we listened to some speeches from the Guests speakers – first, Mr.Nathan Chasing Horse and then Mr.Adrian Lasimbang.

Previous Conference, with Prof. Wangari Maathai, she inspired us with her story of the hummingbird.  There is no doubt – the students took the message with them back home. And this year, we have another inspiring story from Mr.Nathan. This time, he insipired us with his stories made from experience, made from his broad knowledge and understanding.

I took a little video of him singing the, if I am not mistaken, the “Recovery Song”.

Oh, it’s so blurry~*
