159. Herons. Check. Proboscis monkey. Zilch.
Trying miserably to shake off the lingering CNY mood, I attempted to start with all the should-be-done-soon assignments. Started well with English, poorly with Computing and quite well with Biology. Math is getting better progressively.
Knowing that I should expose myself to more different fields within my subject of interest, I have tagged along with the most entertaining group I’ve met so far, to bird watching / survey in Tutong’s Sewage plant.
Reached Sewage plant at around 9.30am.

Egrets.
Egrets were seen at the vicinity, along with fifteen Grey Herons. Not to mention, the white-bellied Sea Eagle too. Fascinating scene – to see them glide, flap their wings, glide again. Oh, what about the way the herons pay close attention to their food before shooting their neck into the water and capture the food with its bill? Amazing. Some of us managed to take fantastic shots. Some, like myself, have poor camera and was only able to capture any species that were close by… like these:

Jeff and Andery were trying to spot the later-found out sunbird. Salwa was so prepared to smile at the camera. haha

It was a one exciting, lots of mosquito-biting, red-ants-up-your-sleeves morning. We decided to have Nasi Kandar right after that and later on, hoped to see some proboscis monkey. Apparently, the river water level was high and thus, couldn’t see anything but two to four egrets…mmms, as well as a common Kingfisher – which was pretty cool. Apart from birds though, we managed to see two monitor lizards and looked at some mangrove plants.
Ah, nothing beats the serenity and beauty of nature. Beats me, but I don’t see anything particularly new in malls or shop houses that fascinates me as much as seeing just one bird that “visits” you unexpectedly.
I’m tired now.
Let me sleep.

Season's Greetings!
very interesting! i’m quite jealous you get to go on these little trips for your classes. i would’ve love to do something like that for mine!
hha ha ha thanks for finding us entertaining enough hoh
usually we talked more serious stuff bah but because Mr V was there and the opportunity was too good to pass so he got the blunt of all!!! ha ha ha i love to kill him with his lameness bah.. Let’s see if next week mist-netting will be fun too, with more people!!!
.Shireo: haha, it is, it is! Only on the other hand, we all had to and still have to bear with all the mosquito bites and be ready for all the red-patches of whatever that would or could leave us with! Nevertheless, it is interesting and tiring!!!
.BB: HAHAHAHA. Poor Met lah, seriously!!! Mist-netting would be cool! I am looking forward to that!!! Do we need boots this time?? =D
