December 2008

When you are obliged to do something, do you do it because you have to do it or because you want to? or is it really, a little of both?

To those that are obliged to do something you love, you are one sure damn lucky soul~

To those that are obliged to do something because of something you love, welcome to the club~

In general, when one is obliged to do something, one most probably don’t like that very job; because one is forced, because one has no option, because one has no say…because one cannot run away.

Your job, your career is an obligation. You are forced to stay because it is what keeps the money coming in and you have no option to neglect whoever and whatever that occupy your breathing space ( you do that, and you’ll lose your job) and of course you have no say when your boss gives you the last word of the day – whether or not it is good. Thus, obligations “kill” you.

Then again, who has the right to tell you what you are obliged to? A mother is obliged to her son (because she feels it is) – because she wants to in the first place. A worker is obliged to the boss (because it is in the papers to which he signed) – because he wants to in the first place.  Whatever it is, it sums up to this – there is No freedom (in general term). And people are often obliged to do something in order to get something else. Like say, you work not because of the job itself but to get the money instead.

But what if I say that I have the obligation to live. Would that obligation cancels out all other obligations that may hinder it?

Now you ask me…

what has this got to do with anything?

It does – it does affect everything and anything in life. But surely, one has to understand what “to live” really means and to what definition does one draws in this.

If everyone is seeking happiness, and if happiness=life then you are obliged to seek happiness and to experience total happiness. Since everything in this world is pretty fucked messed up, next thing you know, you find yourself asking “what is happiness?”. This may very well be the reason why there are killings in this world, why there are wars and really… well, sadness itself. Because through THAT, you get to know what happiness really is, no?

As much as I am obliged to do a lot of things (where most, I abhor doing), it tells me that… at the end of the day, I get what I want.

After all, when you don’t want something, you wouldn’t be obliged to it in the first place.

It was 6.30am when the alarm clock rang. Lazily, I woke up and cleaned my room, something which I should have done first week of December! Headed towards showers after that and off I went with darling for breakfast soon after that.

The plan was to go shopping for the little party tonight. I met Mui Foon and Hui Fang at Hua Ho Manggis and we got ourself a huge trolley but was only filled with six small items. haha. Anyway, we were planning to make sushi and potato salad. Only, we ended up eating the sushi we made! haha, well… they did. I didn’t. Although I think I should have. haha. I was busy trying to figure out how to decorate the place. The party was planned just for the kids (our cute neighours) so it shouldn’t be all too complicated and yet lively enough! By 3pm – the christmas tree was still naked.

Anyway, the two darlings (Foon and Fang) stayed longer till 8.30pm and went home after that. [P.s: I don't know whether you girlies are reading this, but thank you very much for coming over and help make sushi and the salad!! they were very yummy!]. We spent most of our time watching the kids play while the four of us (darling,me, foon, fang,) just sit and sip on some coke or red wine. No, it wasn’t a big party.

Dad had some friends over and they were barbequeing the whole night. Dad’s lamb chop was yummy! I was pretty stuffed by the time I hit the bed at 2Am. I can’t really say that the party was a success. It was for the kids but for my part, I think the party was not lively enough for the three guests that I had with me. *gonk*

That was my Christmas eve. A little lamb chop, a little sushi, a little DDR, a little Guitar Hero, a little of all, it made me happy. and exhausted.

Ah, Merry Christmas.

To all rich and poor, young and old souls out there, I wish you all, a

very Merry and Happy Christmas!

I know I have many flaws,
to which some I cannot see,
If ever I have hurt you,
unintentionally or deliberately,
I am very sorry.

Since Christmas is about giving and forgiving,
I’d like to give my best best very best wishes
to you and your family.
May the new year bring you joy and happiness.

I was having my dinner, alone in the big dining table and while so, was flipping through today’s Borneo Bulletin. At the very last page of the paper, it’s the Sports section and usually, they have updates on all sorts of sports from badminton to football and then to some athletics and da-dee-da. Anyway, tonight’s show Brunei Darussalam winning number 1 in athletics, if I am not mistaken and you know – the pictures that show the Guest of Honour giving out the medals… no one, not a bloody soul was sitting in the spectator seat.

Not one bloody soul person.

And this isn’t the first few pictures I have seen with no one sitting at the spectators seat…it’s just sad, you know? No one was cheering for our team! No one was there to bring life and energy to the players in the field!

I was once a sporty little girl before (who loves nothing but running all day, hahaha) and I know how it feels like when people cheers for you… when the crowd cheers for you as you run towards the finishing line! There’s this boost! But really, just about any cheering, especially when they call your name followed by a “GO! Go! You can do it!”… at whatever occasion, it definitely would give you the “unknown” energy. (I’m serious!)

So, I close my eyes and imagine I was there in one of the seats – cheering very loud for them… and hoping that my cheer would follow by another and then another… and then our team will stand strong.

So sad lah.

Okay, I shall take a break from posting them pictures of my recent trip to Hong Kong. There are 865 ish photos! @.@ haha.

I went to watch Yes Man two days ago which was a pretty good movie! It said you oughta learn how to say “yes” and here I am, with people telling me to learn how to say “no”. -.- hahaha. Oh and I saw Manju and Mag on that day as well~!!! Although I wasn’t too hyper to be myself that day. *gonk*

Went out again yesterday. Supposedly, should head to gym since darling missed out Thursday’s workout because of me (to watch Yes Man) *gonk* but did not manage to. Instead of losing weight, my little cuzzies and sisters and mom and aunt and him and me went out to gain weight. haha. We had nasi lemak. -.-; Then right after that, him, me, my two sisters went to the Arcade – in hope to lose weight. >.< haha. Nope, did not work at all.

haha, am just glad, am indeed glad, things are back to normal.

I love you.

UPDATE ON TULIPS!

No good news peeps! The temperature in my room is too “hot” for them tulips! I need to re-work on my planning. I have three more tulip bulbs and hopefully plan B works!

hk-3xmas All the Jingles and all the Bells.

Hair dryer was on. The toilet door opened and closed. Ugh. Was time to get up. For the first time, both my sisters woke up earlier than I did. I admit, I did not sleep well on that bed. But surprisingly though, my back ache was gone! haha. hk-3castleAnyway, after all the cleaning up and getting ready, as well as having a quick short breakfast, off we went to Disneyland!

So again, we reached Disneyland quite early, actually at a nice right timing since right after we bought the tickets, we only waited not for long till the gate was opened. The first big thing that caught our eyes (though many things there caught our eyes) was the you’ll-see-in-every-Disney-Cartoon-Disney Castle! haha. Although this one was a little small compared to the one in California – or so mom said.

As soon as we stepped inside, we were wide-eyed and in awe with the beautiful architecture of the buildings… they may not be very intricate and splendid but they do give you that cheerful, calming feeling. We stepped inside the double decker bus while seeing big Goofy, and big Donald Duck shaking hands with some kids.

hk-3firststop

And you know, these buildings look so magical at night! With all the lights and people dressing like elves walking around just makes you feel so happy! haha.. Definitely a good place to take loads of pictures! And hence, although it was still day time, we took more photos!

hk-3buildings

Haha, and you know, the first ride we all went for was the Merry-G0-Round! It lasted around one minute ish. haha. So short a ride effectively put me in a little dizzy mode though. Gah. Never liked rides that go round and round, too fast or too slow… too fast made me throw up, too slow bore the shit crap out of me.

After going round and round, we went for zoom zoom in slow-mo. We stopped by the Little Wonderland or Small Wonderland they call it. It was a slow ride through the many colourful lights shining onto many pictures and puppets that “sing” and “dance”. Too boring for us all, we went to visit Buzz Lightyear and damn, was that thing fast! We got on board this little ship thing and since the “ship” was connected, we took the six seats behind while some others took the six seats infront of us… it was very fun and exciting since we were all screaming and shouting and laughing all at the same time! Only thing was though.. the six peeps infront of us did not laugh or scream or shout at all.. AT ALL! Haiyer!

hk-3buzz

Anyway, after buzz lightyear ride, we headed for lunch(costly simple lunch). We stayed in Disneyland all the way till night time! We watched a lot of shows with loads of singing and dancing. Everything there, really, all involved singing and dancing.-.-; hahaha. We went to this Mickey show, very colourful indeed (with loads of singing and dancing). Mulan was there, Ariel was there, Beauty and the Beast lovers were there too… haha. Simba was absent. Soon after that though, we went to visit Tarzan in his tree house. Tarzan was not at home however but all his stuffs were there. I tried to steal his goodies.

*rolls eyes* haha.

hk-3movingon

By the time we finished visiting Tarzan, our legs were aching already and the time then was, if I am not mistaken, close to 5pm. Dad insisted that we stayed till 7pm to watch the fireworks but the rest of us gave him that look that pleaded him so we could skip it and go back Causeway Bay. But since it would take dad’s friend an hour or so to pick us up, we walked back to where we started and sat on the sidewalks – to our surprise was a good sitting place to watch another show! this time a Road show! perfect timing too!

hk-3colourful

Cameras were clicking away and people started going “ooohh..”…”aahhh..”..”woaahhh” and not long after that I joined them too going “woahhh..” not particularly on the show but how fast the sky colour changed! After the show, it was already somewhat dark! I checked my time and it was around 6.30pm. The dimness of the place did not last long for all the lovely shops around us, along with the big christmas tree started to light up!

hk-3letitshine

Let it SHINE!

That was really it. We went back to Causeway Bay and had Japanese for dinner. Yummy food in a very crowded restaurant! I wasn’t very sure where we would be going the next day and even right now, I can’t recall the name of the place.

Whatever the name was though – there was a lot of cable car riding, long walks -walking. Next stop, we went to see the huge statue of Buddha.

The very cool gush of wind took me by surprise. I was shivering. And just as quick as it came, it stopped. I snuggled warmly under my thick jacket. I should have brought a thicker baju. Many double decker buses were seen to  line up along the street with much blinking red dotted lights on each of the buses’ “forehead” showing something like “E97″ or “A87″. You going to E97? After long waits to get onto one of the buses, father decided to just take the taxi (even if it means the cost would be double of what would be charged if we use the bus, and double that amount again, because we used two taxis.) We spent more than B$150 just on the transportation from the airport to where we lived in Hong Kong Island.

How’s that for a first impression?

Not too bad, not too bad. We were all very excited. 7 days lay ahead of us, 7 days of doing no routine, 7 days of long days.

First Day in Hong Kong.

hk1-bridgeThat would be the day we arrived and that was around mid afternoon. We stayed at Causeway Bay. Very busy street, very busy people, and people there…smoke. *gah*.

On our way to where we stayed, we crossed the longest bridge in Hong Kong and it well very be the largest in the world…or so the taxi driver told us. Anyway, we didn’t do much on the first day. We were exhausted. The next day however, we started our  day in  Ocean Park.

Second Day in Hong Kong.

hk-2ceanpark

Ocean Park was beautiful. Very beautiful. The weather was, well…the sun was shining very brightly so that was thumbs-up for our little trip and the air was cool – always cool breeze. Awesome, ain’t it? The tickets were expensive however (and I guess it should be since it takes a lot of money to train and pay the workers and not to mention to feed the animals and maintain the whole park in general..) But anyway, off we went…

hk-2-walking

We met the AMIGAS along the way (I am not sure whether they are really called the AMIGAS… >.<) and they’re Mexicans! They walked from spot to spot, put up their instruments and dismantle them and sing, and sing, and sing.

hk-memoriesAnyway, we walked further down and since it was early then, none of the games were on and running, they were just getting started. Though early, there were many tourists and visitors and everyone started clicking their camera buttons taking loads and loads of pictures (like us. haha). Further down ahead, we stopped by the Panda House.

hk-2panda

There were only three or four pandas there. Now that I think about it, it was the only time I have seen pandas up close – i mean, after all the zoos I have been to, I think this was the only time I saw China Panda. haha.  They’re so furry and so adorable.  On our way out though, we saw this one guy talking about pandas to some show, I reckon – since he was being filmed when he talked – in Cantonese. And… I don’t quite understand Cantonese. =/ But anyways, moving on…

It was close to lunch time (12pm-ish) when we descended the stairways down from the Panda House. We were much exhausted, we rested on some benches while waiting for this show to start. We were entertained by a few massive looking clowns and some jugglers, followed by some acrobatics.

hk2-clowns

Very entertaining and colourful show indeed. We had lunch soon after that and we realised how expensive the food are in HK! ( A congee costs like B$10!! ). Anyway, we lingered on…queue-ing most of the rides and took loads of pictures (not by us, but them people who work there – they usually  say it’s FREE but you still pay in the end if you like the photo since Free only applies to them “taking” the photo not “taking and giving” you the photo. haha). So we stayed for another show before heading back to where we stayed. That show was none other than the dolphin and seal show. *grins*

hk-2crowds

The show was sort of short (when compared to how long we waited). Nevertheless, it was good. The usual dolphin tricks – waving to the crowds with their fin and “wag” their tail in the water and across the water stage. The cool thing about this show was that they made one of the spectators act like as if she was drowning so that the trained dolphin could “rescue” her. Something I didn’t spectate in Singapore’s zoo. But I must say, Singapore’s zoo is a little more, uhm…exciting. Perhaps I was tired, perhaps I expected too much, but whatever it was though (which I can’t pin-point exactly), Ocean Park is a very nice park to visit and to grade it out of 5 (with 5 being best, and 1 being lousy), I’d give it a 4.25.  haha.

What got me interested though was not the trip mom told us the day before this – “We’re going Ocean Park tomorrow…” but rather the night when we returned from Ocean Park…

“We would be going to Disneyland tomorrow.”

Surely, it has to be better than Ocean Park.

I am in Qube.

Wii machine is on and my little brother is cursing and playing some tennis game while me, along with my two sisters are staring at some huge screens, and are clicking one of these black keyboards that look… complicated. haha.

Behind me are Chanel and Fendi, along with Valentino, Versace and Burberry. Oh wait, not to mention Esprit and Calvin Klein. I bought one Givenchy’s. Everything here is good stuff, from food to fashion, to transportation, to scenery, to room services, to the bathroom. =D haha.

Fellas…

 I am in VENETIAN, Macau.

I have much to tell, very much indeed. From the first day of my arrival to Hong Kong, followed by a few more days in Hong Kong and then from Hong Kong to Macau and then yeah, Macau back home tomorrow. My flight schedule shows that I’ll be late…will reach Brunei by midnight tomorrow instead of late evening. Sighs*

I miss my bed. my pillow.
I miss my flowers. I don’t know how my tulips are doing. Dead? *pouts*
I miss home now. I miss him.

Will update blog as soon as I reach home. =)

EXAM’S OVER!

Let me say it slowly…

EXAM….IS….OVAH!!! *big Super Big grin*

Last paper was LK1401. It was alright. Hopefully I did well and no dumb careless mistakes. =/

Anyway, time to update my to-do list for the month!

There is nothing much to say,
All them books are far at bay,
Sleepless nights are over,
Damn coffee didn’t work them shiver,
Dodging every flying books,
Indulges now with none but one.

Alas, the last leaf fall,
now awaits for the snow to call.

It’s so uberly.

I’m uberly glad that my two major papers are done and over with, although there is one more paper on Saturday. But that’s alright – i’m uberly glad.

Uberly tired yesterday. I never..never have I ever woke up at 2am just to study. I used to be uberly prepared for any exams but this time I think i was uberly lazy. Ah well, I think it paid off. I’m uberly glad.

I’m uberly broke now, I think I spent too much on food. Gah. And i need to save up for my Hong Kong trip! Am uberly excited… I need to start packing! Am leaving on Monday! *grins*

It’s uberly hot yesterday and I think it will be too today. I am uberly uinhappy that my tulips are not germinating. Something must be wrong. I’m uberly disappointed. Like Uberly.

I think I’m going to be uberly busy again this December. Sighs* Will update a checklist later on. Gah. Uberly annoying.

It’s just so uberly.

Very uberly.
