130. Maybe, Quite Possibly.

What we undertand is new species is being introduced as time progresses while some go extinct. It’s how it has been and probably will be too in the years to come. Sumatran Tiger, Komodo Dragon are a few of them endangered animals – a few are left in this big big world we live in. People are trying to save this lot – from being extinct. Because maybe, quite possibly this lot are of great value to us, humans – a sad race who think they know everything but are effectively polluting the world, destroying this big habitat slowly.

Our ancestors viewed the Earth as rich and bountiful, which it is. Many people in the past also saw nature as inexhaustibly sustainable, which we now know is the case only if we care for it. It is not difficult to forgive destruction in the past which resulted from ignorance. Today, however, we have access to more information, and it is essential that we re-examine ethically what we have inherited, what we are responsible for, and what we will pass on to coming generations. Our marvels of science and technology are matched if not outweighed by many current tragedies, including human starvation in some parts of the world, and the extinction of other life-forms. The exploration of space takes place at the same time as the Earth’s own oceans, seas, and fresh water areas grow increasingly polluted. Many of the Earth’s habitats, animals, plants, insects, and even micro-organisms that we know as rare may not be known at all by future generations. We have the capability, and the responsibility. We must act before it is too late. The Dalai Lama, His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso, the Fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet, spiritual leader of the Buddhist faith

No, I have nothing against humans *see myself on the mirror*.

Okay, so humans are successful because… you see them everywhere and they occupy the highest trophic level in the food chain (or food web for that matters)….which then made me think – will we go extinct?

Maybe…quite possibly….

I asked a few people about this – I haven’t really received any good answer (then again, maybe there is no good answer after all).

We’ve got the brains, nature has the power. What we do with nature, nature will in turn affect us according to what we did to it in the first place. Yes? It’s how it keeps itself stable….and perhaps will do whatever it takes to kill whatever it contains in order to survive? But We’ve got the brains. As soon as nature alters the living condition(s) in what we are normally familiar with, we would start adapting to that change. It changes, we adapt. Change-adapt. Change-adapt. Technology now advances so fast – before you start trying to learn how one new gadget works, another newer one pops up.

So does that mean, we can do anything to the environment? – Cultural determinism. orrrr… nature still has the upper hand of everything?

In any case, the possibility of humans going extinct… is quite small, no? We are now considered to be agentsof evolution. Through our ways of domesticating animals, creating new habitats…da dee da… and from my point of view, the very force that would drive human race to extinction would be humans themselves, whether from their creation or their mere existence.

If humans are not extinct, there won’t be such a thing as after-life of the Earth.

If your talking about possibilities….there’s no end to it. The word IF then later followed by a WOULD/COULD are so damn many. I very much agree with the statement ”the very force that would drive human race to extinction would be humans themselves”

Holy shyt….i rarely comment about my views…maybe im too bored~ haha
