81.Another step forward.

This question was brought forward: Why do you want to pursue your studies?

That’s a simple question, I thought.

But before I could answer, I realized there are a few answers I could provide.

1. I love to learn more on the subject I love best.

2. To get a better position in the career I’ll partake.

3. Hence, get a better pay.

So, after much dwelling on this subject, I find myself thinking whether or not to go abroad and pursue my studies.

I have so many things to take into consideration; cash is one, commitment another.

Alright then, I shall stay. Yes, here in Brunei.

If what I love studying is Biological Science, where ample flora and fauna can be found here – why travel far? Brunei is part of the Heart of Borneo. Brunei has most of her land covered with trees and above all, it is my country – why travel far indeed. To get a job, you need a degree-at least – so they say, so I believe. So alright, I shall get a degree. Then get a job. Then pursue again to the next level and this time, there shall be enough cash to pursue such a course outside Brunei. Most probably would come back and could serve the country better.

Settling down in Brunei isn’t all that bad. It is peaceful and safe. There is no reason why such a serenity shall be disturbed and taken away. People talk about the chaos outside and yet they forget how blessed they are living in this country. Some dare complain of the littlest matter. Some even ignore the siren and instead of preserving such a peace, they be the source that destroy it. Example: them who open burn without thinking twice what the consequences are [maaflah, i just really abhor those people who pollute the air].

Seriously, who shall protect the peacefulness of the country if it isn’t us? Let’s face it – almost all agree that Brunei is developing in a rather slow motion but what frustrates me is how people simply talk about it and not do anything about it. What good does it do to just moan and complain?

I am pouring my thoughts out now. I don't care whether you like it or not.

I always believe that one can make a difference. And at the same time, I also believe that one cannot do it all alone. If a good change is what we want to see in our country, then it is up to us all to make that change. The government consists of men and they alike are humans. We surely can’t just let them do everything while we sit here and demand for change. How is that even possible? A government is built to help the people, for the people. We are the people. So, shouldn’t we be working together with Sultan to preserve the peacefulness of our country?

Yes, I know it’s a big role to play – a big responsibility. But such is made easier if we do just do our part. Simple concept like:

1. Don’t litter – then country will look clean.

2. Don’t open burn – then country’s air will be clean.

3. Drive properly – then no one is going to get hurt.

there are so much more.

Perhaps I am being patriotic at the moment, perhaps I am just annoyed at how people perceive things at times, perhaps I am just thinking too much but one thing is for sure, I do love Brunei.

So, yes. I am staying.
